IN NEED OF A NEW HOME
Sometimes things come full circle. Tom and I have learned that Peter Kaus, a car collector both of us know, has sold his entire Rosso Bianco Museum collection to a Dutch museum. Tom's relationship with Peter came about through years of car restorations, and I know him less well, but our paths have crossed over the years. Anyway, the purchasing museum is selling off some of Peter's collection at an auction right here in California in conjunction with the Pebble Beach Concours this weekend.
Tom and I have close connections with three of these cars: The Lola 260 which sold for $195,000 was restored by Tom, and I was involved with it when Jackie Stewart drove it in 1971. Tom also restored the Shadow dn4 which went for $340,000. I was involved with the Lola 222 (sold for $185,000) in 1970 when it was driven by Peter Revson. To take a look at these cars go to:
www.Bonhams-Sale Items, select the Sales tab, click on Sales Results, Past Sales, and select Quail Lodge Resort Auction for August 18, 2006. The cars' item numbers are: 513,517, and 524. These cars have a place in our hearts from the old days, and it's nice to know they've got good homes for sure!
