WILDLIFE, ANIMAL LIFE, SOCIAL LIFE

Still very warm here in Capay Valley--107 today. Moved a lot of dirt this morning. Starting to get a handle on operating the equipment. Progress!

Wildlife abounds here: rabbits, deer everywhere, small creatures, and even a vulture seen sitting here on a fence post hoping for the worst. Many people have horses, and this beauty belongs to a neighbor.
Sunday afternoons are social time in the Valley, and I've enjoyed barbeques and celebrations at neighboring homes and farms. Last week went to Sue's to help celebrate her son's 21st birthday. Sue is a British school teacher living and teaching here in the Valley schools. Mike and Ann invited us to a party for Ann who is retiring from UC Hayward where she was a professor. See http://www.capayvalleyvision.org/cvgmcdonald.pdf for more on their life and orchards. Also http://www.capayvalleygrown/ provides info on what is grown in the valley. Many very nice interesting people live here in the Valley, and I enjoy spending time with them.
NEWS FLASH: John Winter finished 6th out of a field of 72 at today's Road America Elkhart Lake Can-Am Race. Good going John!
