FAWN safe house
The past few weeks I have noticed a fawn sleeping, either in my driveway (of all places) or in the Lilly beds. Being very small-fragile and quite clumsy, I have been quite concerned, and have been keeping a eye on him/her. The last few days he/she has hardly moved, so I did some Internet research. Fawn's stay w/mom for the first year, and need their mothers milk for at least 3 months. it said ! wow "Now what do I do" after some more research I learnt that deer sometimes hide their young for the day, while they forage and graze, so not to expose them to predator's and not within a hour of reading this, looking out the window I saw the fawn vigorously suckling on her mother, and as they saw me they galloped across the yard and over the road into the dense woods. I am so happy, as I will not have to intervene in anyway ! Also honored to be considered a "safe house"
