Hoover Dam was the greatest dam of its day and is still a world-renowned structure considered one of America's Seven Modern Civil Engineering Wonders. It provides water to more than 18 million people in Las Vegas, Los Angeles, San Diego, Phoenix, Tucson, and other southwestern communities in Arizona, Nevada, and California. http://www.usbr.gov/lc/hooverdam/
