HOES DOWN

Another great time at Full Belly Farm when it sponsored Hoes Down, a two-day harvest celebration offering workshops, hayrides, educational activities, food, wine tasting, crafts, music, and lots of fun in general. It's a full spectrum event highlighting various aspects of life on an organic family farm. This event has been featured in National Geographic magazine, and the children's area has been called the best in the state. We participated in the wine tasting portion and enjoyed the various offerings around the place as did about 3,500 other people. More than 400 campers did the overnight thing.

Really neat strawbale house--yes. Actually made of straw in bales then covered with a stucco-like material. It works very well according to the folks who live there.

Blacksmith on the job...

A primary focus of the event is to allow children to experience the joy of these basic life crafts, like weaving, carving, spinning, brick-oven baking, sheep shearing, etc.
